FAZ Elections: Kamanga Unopposed as Appeal Window Opens

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Electoral Committee has released the list of successful candidates for the upcoming elections, with incumbent Andrew Kamanga standing unopposed for the presidency. The committee has also provided an appeal window for unsuccessful candidates, running from February 17 to February 22, 2025.
FAZ Electoral Committee chairperson Ronald Hatoongo announced the successful candidates, confirming that only two contenders will compete for the vice presidency: incumbent Justin Mumba and challenger Christopher Kasale.
In the provincial leadership races, five incumbent chairpersons retained their positions: Chisanga Pule (Central), Patrick Ndhlovu (Copperbelt), Mweemba Mujala (Luapula), Jordan Maliti (Lusaka), and David Simwinga (Western). Luapula’s Samuel Mwape and Southern Province’s Nicholas Moomba secured their positions unopposed.
Elections will take place for the chairmanship in Eastern and North Western provinces, where Crispin Kamuna faces Patrick Nyirenda in Eastern, while Arthur Kamulosu will contest against Brian Sakulenga in North Western. Meanwhile, Colonel Priscilla Katoba has been confirmed as the National Women’s Representative after running unopposed.
The selection process was overseen by the FAZ Governance and Review Committee, which vetted candidates in accordance with FIFA statutes. The Electoral Committee then assessed applicants based on Article 33 of the FAZ Constitution, which includes an integrity test as outlined in Article 33(2). The committee reviewed candidates’ qualifications, experience, and nomination validity through the FAZ Connect System.
Key eligibility criteria included a minimum of five years in a leadership position within FAZ and at least three years of leadership experience immediately preceding the elections—nominations required validation by two independent nominators, who must be FAZ members.
With the appeals window open until February 22, the final list of candidates will be published within five days after the appeal period closes. The elections are set to shape the future leadership of Zambian football, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments.
