UTH-Adult Hospital Enhances Customer Care with Specialized Training

The University Teaching Hospital (UTH)-Adult Hospital has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening customer care service by rolling out specialized training sessions for healthcare staff.
As part of its mission to enhance service excellence, the hospital’s Public Relations (PR) Unit has initiated a structured customer care training program. The sessions, which began in January 2025, are held every Wednesday for nurses and every Thursday for support staff, running through February.
UTH-Adult Hospital Public Relations Officer, Nzeba Chanda, disclosed that plans are underway to extend the training across all departments starting in March 2025. The extended sessions will be conducted twice a month to ensure a hospital-wide culture of improved customer service.
During a recent training session for nurses, Ms. Chanda underscored the importance of patient appreciation, highlighting the need for healthcare providers to offer a warm welcome through greetings, eye contact, and a smile.
The training program covers key topics such as customer service, work attitude, communication, handling difficult clients, teamwork, passion for work, and kindness.
Ms. Chanda further advised caregivers to establish strong social support systems outside of work and engage in activities that bring them happiness, emphasizing that self-care enhances the ability to provide quality service.
This initiative reflects UTH-Adult Hospital’s dedication to fostering a compassionate and patient-centered healthcare environment.
