Zambia and Egypt Deepen Economic Ties Through Bilateral Agreements

In a bid to strengthen economic cooperation, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia held high-level bilateral talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, focusing on trade, investment, and knowledge exchange across key economic sectors.

The discussions underscored Egypt’s advancement in infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and health areas where Zambia aims to leverage Egyptian expertise to drive economic growth. Both leaders emphasized the need for expanded collaboration between public and private sectors, to foster cross-border investment opportunities.

“As Zambia continues on its path of economic transformation, we recognize the significant strides Egypt has made in various industries. We are eager to harness these insights for the benefit of our nation,” President Hichilema stated.

A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding, formalizing agreements in strategic sectors. The leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger commercial ties through joint ventures and business partnerships between Zambian and Egyptian enterprises.

Concluding the talks with a joint press briefing, President Hichilema extended his gratitude to President el-Sisi for the invitation, highlighting the importance of sustained engagement to translate agreements into tangible investment projects.

The meeting reflects Zambia’s broader strategy of expanding international partnerships to stimulate economic growth and attract foreign investment, positioning the southern African nation as an emerging player in the regional and global economy.
